Alton is a great place for musical events. Alton Concert Band joins forces with the Ancora Female Voice Choir, led by Lii Carr and the Alton Choral Society , led by Wendy Busby annually for the Christmas concert held at the Alton Maltings.
Alton also has its own Concert Orchestra and Organ Society. A number of the concert band players also play in the orchestra and Tony Willman, the band’s principal trumpet is Hon. Secretary and programmes for the Alton Organ Society, as well as Director Of Music at St Lawrence Church, Alton
The band has also joined forces with The Woking Wind Orchestra , also led by our Musical Director, Jeremy Morrish, at Farnham’s Gostrey Meadow for the free live music event ‘ Music In The Meadow’ . The positive feed back after this event will most probably prompt the two bands to play together in future events. The band has also hosted the Winchester Flute Choir in a number of concerts, some of the band’s flute players also belong to that flute ensemble.
Alton College has a strong music department . It would be a great opportunity for those young people to come and experience one of our rehearsals, with a view to joining the band and enjoying playing with a local concert band outside of the college environment.
